I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who works with adults who have ongoing issues with depression and anxiety, difficulty calming down, experiences of tough stuff in childhood and strong feelings of grief and loss. My goal is to help you stop feeling overwhelmed or depressed, and start helping you make progress towards your goals.
My Approach to Therapy
I bring an open, nonjudgmental presence to sessions. As a therapist, I can:
Foster a safe and welcoming environment
Create space to share your thoughts
Work collaboratively to identify what you would most like to see change
I enjoy guiding people towards positive change, feeling empowered and witnessing them achieve a more fulfilling life over time. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is seeing a person walk lighter, more free, and excited about life.
Sessions with me will provide you with the space to be heard, so that you’ll be able to focus on yourself. It’s important to me to be open to any feedback or questions you may have and create safety within sessions.
At Essential Insights Counseling Center, there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to therapy.
My approach to treatment includes elements of trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness practices and somatic exercises.
“Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.”
― Helen Keller
As a Therapist, I Embrace the Following Philosophies:
I think there’s value in bringing humor and lightness whenever appropriate in therapy. The challenges that we face on a daily basis are vast and ever present. Humor can allow us to connect the feelings and emotions with more humanity and kindness. Self-compassion and establishing a nurturing voice are core practices in my work, helping clients cultivate a more empowering self-image.
My Professional Background
I received my master’s degree from Simmons University with a focus in Social Work. During my time in this field, I have been dedicated to working with all populations to provide support in a variety of roles including case manager at a community-based day program, support living assistant director and my current role for the past 8 years as an outpatient therapist. I specialize in trauma work and using mindfulness and somatic exercises to help make connections of past experiences impacting current functioning.
