I'm a therapist who works with young adults, adults, gender non-conforming people, and people in the LGBT community who have ongoing challenges with depression and anxiety and have difficulty managing their emotions. My goal is to help you stop dwelling on negative thoughts and guide you to where things feel manageable again.
My Approach to Therapy
I bring an open, non-judgmental presence and flexibility in world views to sessions. As a therapist, I can help you be understood and heard, and help to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals. I enjoy guiding people towards positive changes and watching them transform their lives over time. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is giving hope when people feel hopeless.
Sessions with me will provide you with the space to find peace and silence and that is not experienced in other places, so that you’ll be able to focus on yourself without feeling selfish. It’s important to me to create safety within our sessions and to ensure that the process is collaborative.
At Essential Insights Counseling Center, there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to therapy.
In my approach to therapy, I believe that showing empathy and understanding can broaden the trust and bond between a client and a therapist. While guiding clients with technological tools can be helpful, fully understanding their experiences and difficulties allows me to better guide them to clarity. This, combined with the application of skills and tools that best suite each client, enhances the therapeutic process.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
― Victor Frankl
As a Therapist, I Embrace the Following Philosophies:
I believe that you are worthy of love and care.
I believe that survivors are not what happened to them.
I believe that empathy can change the world.
I believe that we can stop feeling shame when we tell our story with someone who can hear it with empathy and understanding.
I believe that people underestimate their ability to change. It’s possible to change. It’s possible to enjoy life again.
My Professional Background
I received my Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology from Capella University in 2021 after completing my practicum and internship training at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts. Through my internship training, I was introduced to working in modalities related to serious mental illnesses and interventions. I also worked at Bournewood Hospital’s Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). In those settings, I ran therapy groups with a focus on mental health education and provided individual therapy for a variety of issues related to mental health and substance use. Though I have been trained in different modalities, my current focus is on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and internal family systems therapy (IFS).
