I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with adults who have ongoing challenges with anxiety or depression, or who have experienced difficult life events. My goal is to help you stop feeling stuck and start encouraging you to see healing and transformation as possible.
My Approach to Therapy
I bring an open, non-judgmental, and warm presence to sessions. As a therapist, I can help you gain clarity and explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals. I enjoy guiding people toward a life that is meaningful for them and witnessing them achieve more fulfilling lives over time. It’s important to me to provide a safe space where you can be yourself, while also challenging you to grow into the life you want to live for yourself.
At Essential Insights Counseling Center, there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to therapy.
My therapeutic approach is based in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other strength-based modalities. I will collaborate with you to set therapy goals that align with your specific situation and values and will check in with you frequently about our progress together.
“We are not our trauma. We are not our brain chemistry. That’s part of who we are, but we’re so much more than that.”
― Sam J. Miller
As a Therapist, I Embrace the Following Philosophies:
I believe that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated.
I believe that change is possible when you allow yourself the space to do the work.
I believe that therapy should address the person as a whole- their mind, body, and spirit.
I believe that, sometimes, small steps in the right direction can end up being the biggest steps in the end.
My Professional Background
I received my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University and completed my pre-master’s training at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA and the Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center in Boston, MA. I have experience working in a wide range of levels of care, including outpatient mental health, psychiatric inpatient unit, and a Partial Hospitalization Program (day treatment). This variety of experience helps me provide a contextualized and systemic understanding of client needs and problems.
In addition to my clinical work, I worked as a Course Instructor at Boston University for two years, teaching counseling fundamentals to genetic counseling master’s students. I also understand the value of research to clinical practice and am currently involved in research labs at Northeastern University and at Boston College.
